Memorize the names of the books of the Bible from Hosea to Acts
1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Romans 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Rom. 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you were to die tonight, are you certain that you would go to heaven?
When you received Jesus as your Savior and Lord of your life was it because of your love for Him that you chose Him or was it because He loved you and chose you?
1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
(Philippians 1:21) are good examples.
Ps. 23:6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Phil. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
a. How is it that David and Paul were so sure?
b. Are they exceptions--"good guys"--or can you be sure, too?
Read through Romans 3:23-25,
Rom. 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.
Read John 3:1-21, 31-36 in your own Bible; then answer the following questions:
a. How could Nicodemus become a Christian according to Jesus?
b. Do both Jesus and Paul teach that we are Justified by our faith in Christ's Payment for our sins?
a. Admitting that, in God's sight, you are a sinner worthy of just punishment.
Romans 3:10-23, Revelation 20:11-15.
b. Believing that Christ's Death as your substitute is the sole payment for your sins.
Romans 3:25.
c. Repenting of your sins--repentance is a change of heart and mind, giving up the right to live your life by your sinful standards. Acts 3:19.
d. Receiving Christ as your Savior and also Lord--living your life by His standards revealed in the Scriptures. 1 John 5:2, 3.
a. Why were David and Paul sure they were going to heaven? Hebrews 11:13-16 - They accepted this by faith--they trusted God that He would keep His promise concerning their forgiveness.
b. Are they exceptions?
Romans 15:4 - No, rather, they are examples to us. Isaiah 55:1-3 - The eternal life promised to David is extended to us. This should be a good incentive for us to read the Scriptures for at least a half-hour daily! Pray for understanding and a willing heart to obey. Read also John 5:24, 6:35-40, 10:27-30, and 1 John 5:13 to see that Jesus assures us that we can know we are going to heaven and we can never lose our salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-10 - Having been saved by God's grace through faith, apart from anything that we have done, our post- conversion lives show His workmanship as we are changed to do His will more and more each day.
2 Peter 1:3-11 - As our lives reflect these qualities in increasing measure, we demonstrate God's work within us, and we can take comfort in the certainty of our having been selected by God and accepted by Him.
